A rising star on the service front.
At 23, Paul Gromek is one of the youngest fully qualified Mercedes- Benz Automotive Technicians around. Born in Australia, with a Polish background, Paul’s European influence was in his blood right from the start. His uncle worked for the European performance company Lorinser and that’s where his appreciation for fine cars began. Then, on a trip to Germany to visit his uncle he saw his first SL 500 and it was there that his passion for Mercedes-Benz took fire.
Later, after completing his schooling, a friend mentioned a part-time job was going as a car washer with Macarthur Mercedes-Benz. Paul went for an interview at which time he was asked if he’d be interested in an apprenticeship as a motor technician and the rest is history.
Over his years of apprenticeship, Paul consistently topped his classes, both at TAFE and the Mercedes-Benz Apprentice School. His personal determination and ability was recognised this year when he was one of nine technicians chosen to attend the Mercedes AMG experience at Bathurst where he was part of the vehicle support team that prepared the cars after each day’s driving.
His interests include music, family and anything related to Mercedes- Benz. He’s already planning to visit the Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart and to take in a German touring car race. Down the track Paul would like to progress from the workshop to a front line position. With his enthusiasm and drive, who knows how far he could go.
