The SL in its purest form: with an output of 450 kW (612 hp) and a peak torque of 1000 Nm, the SL 65 AMG is the world´s most powerful and high-torque production Roadster. The AMG 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine boasts large turbochargers and a high-performance water/charge-air cooler. The result is a unique torque curve: at just 1000 rpm, the AMG V12 biturbo engine sends 570 Nm to the crankshaft; at just 1500 rpm, this figure rises to 830 Nm. The maximum torque of 1000 Nm is then available constantly between 2000 and 4000 rpm.

Equally as impressive as the spontaneous response is the smooth and refined engine operation – so the SL 65 AMG is just as sublime on the road as it is on race track.

To whet your appetite before starting the SL, however, just feast your eyes on the engine and its cover made from deep-drawn aluminium and carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP).
